Iris graduated from the University of Glasgow with a master degree in Filmmaking and Media arts in 2019 and has a bachelor in Film Studies, Television and New Broadcasting Media from Kingston University, where she won an award for her work in the television department. During her studies she has also spent time in Auckland (New Zealand) and Eindhoven (the Netherlands).
The original concept of Giants is something I have been carrying with me since my time in New Zealand. During my time there I was part of the 2017 Women's March, during which many speeches mentioned the idea of 'standing on the shoulders of giants'. My personal feelings on the women who came before me is more complicated than a sentence like that can express. Giants flowed forth from the idea of being crushed by those same giants that lift other people up. Intergenerational trauma and a lack of communication about trauma in daily life are something to start talking about within our society and the world.
