Getting Schooled is a student-made film that follows Mrs. Copala, a new teacher, as she navigates the challenges of her first year. Struggling with a group of unruly students, she seeks advice from fellow teachers and the school principal. After a heart-to-heart with the principal, Mrs. Copala finds the inspiration and confidence she needs to regain control of her classroom. With this renewed sense of purpose, she overcomes the obstacles in her way and begins to thrive in her role as a teacher.

Director Biography - Manuel Cisnero

Manuel Cisnero is a talented filmmaker from Houston with over ten years of experience. He fell in love with storytelling back in film school and hasn't looked back since. During his journey, Manuel worked as a production assistant on the 2018 film "Rich Kids," which was honored as the Best U.S. Feature at the New York Latino Film Festival presented by HBO. He still calls Texas home and is dedicated to showcasing Latino voices through his work. His projects are real and heartfelt, diving into topics like cultural heritage, identity, and social issues. Manuel's passion and commitment shine through in every story he tells, making a real difference in the world.
