Gestures of Domestic Memories
In a capitalist society where digital marketplaces exchange human bodies in the form of services, a migrant domestic worker shows us the daily life of household chores. From her self-consciousness, she takes us on a journey of gestures and sensations expressed in time, space, and movement. This short film-performance based on real events brings us a unique perspective, about the everyday reality of domestic work and migration in Berlin, as well as a call to reflect on our daily performances.

Aída Herrera Peña is a Berlin-based film maker, performing artist, designer, and researcher pursuing ideals of social change, and innovative ways of making and knowing.
Graduated from the Universidad de Bogotá Jorge Tadeo Lozano (Colombia), her background is in the field of industrial design and audiovisual and multimedia production, complemented by parallel studies of dance. Additionally, she holds a scientific master's degree in Design Research from the Anhalt University of Applied Sciences y Stiftung Bauhaus Dessau in collaboration with Humboldt Universität zu Berlin (Germany).
Her practice explores and reports on social realities by means of body language, embodied experiences, and performative strategies. She collaborated in the "Bauhaus Study Rooms" (Dessau) in 2020 with a workshop-performance, and in 2021 she was selected as mentee by the Forecast Platform (funded by the Ministry for Culture and Media Germany, Goethe Institute, Future Architecture and Creative Europe Programme of the European Union), in Berlin to develop the project "Gestures of Domestic Memories"; her last creation.
I believe that films are a bold medium to unveil social struggles in a genuine and sincere way. They have the power to shape the way we feel and behave in the world, so what we create carries a great responsibility that not only represents our society in time and space, but also shapes our future.
