Gentling and Eventing Formerly Wild Mustangs
Through my equine video business Pro Horse Productions, I have spent over 2 decades filming tens of thousands of horses in eventing, dressage, show jumping, horses for sale and breed inspections. Having been a competitive rider most of my life, I have enjoyed the partnership that comes with fine tuned training with my horses. I've also enjoyed riding through breathtaking scenery trail riding all across Colorado, Arizona, Wyoming, South Dakota, and in Florida. From time to time I've seen riders with their mustangs, and heard the entire range of stories from the incredible successes, to the the stories that have resulted in serious injury, and even death.
My equine video business had kept me busy for so many weekends filming clinics and given me back stage passes filming private coaching with some of the top trainers in the world who compete in dressage, eventing, and show jumping. I knew that some day would carve out some time to learn from horse trainers who take wild horses who had been rounded up from open lands and moved into crowded holding pens and put into an entirely new way of life.

I've been riding and competing horses for over 40 years. As a visual learner, I know first hand the value of improving my riding after watching my lessons or shows. I began filming friends at horse trials as a training tool and memory of that event. When I became a Mom in 1998, I left the corporate world and adjusted my riding expectations to raise our son. I started videotaping at a few horse trials in a small way to earn money to get back into the sport. My business grew quickly, and I became the video provider for the Colorado Horse Park Three Day Event and Horse Trials for 4 years. During that time, I would get at least one call a year from a competitor who wished she had signed up to be video taped, as either the horse was for sale and the rider needed a sale video, or the horse had been injured or put down and the owner wanted something to remember him by. I was so grateful to have this footage to pass along!
I have earned my USDF Bronze & Silver Medals in Dressage, have trained to compete up to Prelim eventing, and cleared 4' Show Jumping courses. My investment in training horses and filming tens of thousands of horses over 2 decades has challenged me to take on some passion projects that require much more time and editing than short sales videos. I'm proud to share this interview and overview with the team at Wild Rose Mustang Advocacy Group
