Writer/Director/Producer Gemma Paul left a career in business to pursue her long-held passion and dream to make movies. In 2017 she followed her artistic side and trained as a Makeup Artist. After working on several projects as a Makeup Artist, she, with some encouragement, took the plunge and wrote her own short horror film. ‘Underland’ went into production in June 2018, Directed by Gemma herself. The short obtained immediate success, being picked up by Tony Newton for an anthology DVD release, as well as going straight to LA at The Ladyfilmmakers Festival.
Following on from the success of ‘Underland’, which won multiple awards, Gemma went straight into production on her next short film ‘Adam’. This short, currently still on the festival circuit, has surpassed the success of ‘Underland’ being picked up at a large number of US festivals and winning many awards.
Gemma, has slowed down with production since ‘Adam’ to concentrate on her writing. She has several TV shows in development as well as another short. Her scripts have won awards themselves and gained some interest.
When not writing, Gemma is a strong advocate for women in film, especially women in horror.
