Geeky Toons Animation Showcase is an opportunity for local indie animators to exhibit their completed shorts as well as any work in progress films on which they wish to receive feedback.
There is no entry fee, no prizes of any kind, and the event is free to attend. The goal is simply to help indie filmmakers working in animation get their work seen by more people, get feedback from their peers, meet & network with new people, and just have a good time.
For filmmakers attending the event, there will be a brief Q&A following each film if you wish to participate. Snacks & drinks are available for purchase at the venue but no outside food is allowed. This is our inaugural event and we hope to have more screenings on a regular basis.
Rules & Terms
Submissions can be just about any kind of animated short. Personal projects made in your spare time, finalized films playing the festival circuit, student films, work prints, story reels & animatics, all are fare game. There is no requirement for when the film was made. Submit your newest work or one of your old favorites; they're all welcome.
While it is not necessarily required, it is preferred that shorts appeal to a geek audience and fall under the genres of sci-fi, fantasy, etc., or just be a really good, funny cartoon. Everyone loves those. Films must be family friendly though. No mature content or R-rated stuff. PG-13 at the most.
The films need not have been made in Southern California / Los Angeles area, but filmmakers submitting to the showcase must currently reside there. The event is meant for local indie creators and all filmmakers are strongly encouraged to attend.
Shorts should be at least 2 minutes in length and no longer than 15 minutes.
For films accepted to the showcase, an exhibition quality digital copy will need to be provided. Files should be available to download via a cloud storage service (Dropbox, OneDrive, Google Drive, etc.), be QuickTime / iTunes compatible (file format: .mov, .mp4, .m4v) and have a resolution of at least 720p, preferably 1080p.
