Tampa-based filmmaker, Nikolas Oliverio attended Florida State University where he completed a degree in Business Management/Administration. While in college, he worked on a series of short films, one of which he co-wrote and co-directed with filmmaking partner Omar Herrera, Jr. The film went on to compete and place at FSU's Annual Horror Short Competition. Oliverio graduated from FSU in the summer of 2015, and embarked on a freelance filmmaking career, working on advertisement content for Tampa-based ad agencies and other local businesses. In the summer of 2016, Oliverio met Spencer Thomas Smith (lead guitarist, Edward + Jane) who introduced him to Timothy Edward and Emilie Jane Carpenter (founding members and frontmen of Edward + Jane). The four began shooting what would become Oliverio's first feature film, Gather: The EP Documentary. The film would release a year later, as promised by the team (to produce a film over the course of a year).
This documentary launched Oliverio into his professional filmmaking career. His style is minimalist and raw. He draws inspiration from the minimalist directors of the 80s and mid-2000s, but has passion rooted deeper in the Italian juggernauts of the Neo-Realist movement in the 1940s. He currently resides in Tampa, FL as a documentarian and writer.
