After that he left his home and came to the capital city of Dhaka in 2011, to join in a filmmaking workshop called The Daily Star Celebrating Life. He made his very first short film at the age of 17. Then after coming to Dhaka he got into the advertisement industry, working and gaining experience in several roles like Assistant Director, Executive Producer, Research & Development fellow, Cinematographer etc. Finally after 8 years of working on the industry, he is pursuing his dream once again, with his third short film ‘Gas Chamber’. He wishes to be able to tell his story through moving images.

Jennifer De Peris is a journalism professional, with a heart full of love for cinema. She was always a Hollywood junkie, but her love for world cinema grew as she worked as a Film critic for years. After criticizing many films, she wanted to learn how a film is made. Personally she thinks of herself more as a critic, than a filmmaker. As per her words, this journey helped her to think like a filmmaker. She just finished her master’s degree in Television, Film & Photography from University of Dhaka.

Director Statement

Our main challange to ourselves was that we wanted to make a film with just one charecter, in one location. That’s how eventually we got this idea. Actually this incident was a real phenomena that happened last year in Dhaka. Newspapers covered many stories of the victims, but we wanted to show it from the point of view of a victim’s family member, how they felt on that time. We tried to portray their helplessness, their tragedy of losing their loved ones so unexpectedly. We tried to give the messege that, life if a total uncertain journey. You never know what can happen to you. And if you live in one of the most ‘unlivable’ city in the world, your life becomes a Gas Chamber, eventually you will have to face a tragic death, no matter how rich you are.
