Game Face
Best friends Doug and Eric share a passion for football and drinking. When Doug decides to hold the pair's annual tailgating tradition in his backyard, the two friends spend an afternoon putting away burgers and beers in anticipation of the first game of the season for their beloved Denver Broncos.
Doug is newly separated from his wife and goes to great lengths to cover up exactly how much he is hurting from it by exaggerating the merits of the single life. This does not fool Eric, as he can clearly see from the state of Doug’s house just how effected he is.
Eric, meanwhile, is a perpetual bachelor who has been inadvertently hiding a very important detail about his own life from Doug that could potentially alter their friendship. When the truth is revealed, Doug’s reaction is equal parts awkward, hilarious and touching.
Doug and Eric discover not only surprising things about each other, but also about themselves, confirming the importance of friendship and emotional support.
Game Face is a story about the metaphorical masks we wear and the emotional safe-zone common in male friendships. It explores the vulnerability that gets revealed when men break down those emotional walls (with the aid of alcohol) and decide to drop their “game faces” and get real.
