GLOSSARY OF DELUSIONS

GLOSSARY OF DELUSIONS, 2010 (6 minutes) is a meditation on some ideas of Shakespeare and Caravaggio. Both of them were fascinated with passion, death, madness, and in this film, characters enact their climatic demise, as well as the foreboding of doom. Alongside narcissist solitude, there are possibilities for romantic love. Garish pungent colors occur sometimes, and sometimes there are monochrome scenes, symbolic of the era’s palette. Layered acoustic piano soundtrack is meditative.

Director Statement

This film follows ideas from the Theatre of the Absurd - celebrating the sensibilities of such writers as Gertrude Stein and the stream of consciousness narratives of James Joyce. In cinema “Glossary of Delusions” continues in the footsteps of the pioneer Luis Buñuel. Recent examples of Magic Realism would include “The Lobster” by Yorgos Lanthimos, as well as the work of Brit Marling.
