Director Biography - Armand Hamouth

First time film director. A long live stage/theatre directorial background.

I am French Moroccan Jewish born in Casablanca Africa living in North America. When I walk out of the house everyone yells “...get him he’s everything.”

My background is in Theatre. My first love is directing stage plays. I started acting at the age of 9. I continued acting into my early 20s. At the same time I was writing plays monologues, short stories, narrative & poetry. To date I have written well over 2800 poems & I am an award winning poet. By my mid twenties I discovered directing was my first & most powerful aptitude. I rang up a long list of huge successes.

18 months ago I decided I would learn the craft of filmmaking. As one of the producers of the hugely successful short comedy “The Film Festival” I decided I would move on to direction. I co-produced & co-directed the proof of concept 20 minute short “NoShit Sherlock” I continued by producing & directing Give + Take my first film as a sole director. I then filmed “That Scottish Play” (using a Samsung 9 Phone) now in post production as a collaborative effort with Brian Kennington. I am producing two more projects one in post production & the other in pre-Production but ready to start filming.

My next project a full length film written/ directed/produced by me is in the rewrite stages but I am now fast tracking that project & will be ready to film in the very near future. All the financing is in place & I am very excited about this project with a temporary title of “Sometimes My Words”. This film is everything I am about & most closely represents my own style of storytelling.

Director Statement

My only interest is to make strong films with a clear story to tell that entertains first and foremost. I lean towards universal themes. Movies that speak to our similarities as humans and cover the spectrum of emotions we as people experience. Our cultures and backgrounds may be different but we all smile, laugh, cry, bleed the same. I make movies I want to watch. As an independent filmmaker all artistic and common choices are completely mine.
