If you are not a high school student or do not attend a Tampa Bay high school your submission WILL NOT be accepted so please do not submit.

The Gasparilla international Film Festival High School competition is the first of its kind here in Tampa Bay. Any high school students that want to participate has a full semester to write, plan, shoot and edit a short film which will be submitted through their schools to GIFF to be judged by a panel of industry experts. Rewards will include screenings at the 2018 Gasparilla International Film Festival and college scholarships!

*This Competition is open to students of Tampa Bay High Schools ONLY! Submissions will only be accepted from teachers from the Hillsborough, Pinellas, Sarasota, Polk, Pasco or Manatee school systems. No submissions will be accepted directly from students, no submissions will be accepted from adult filmmakers.*

High School GIFF Film Competition Rules and Procedures

Rules

-All films must be 3-8 minutes in length.

-There is no restriction to the subject of the film, but it must fit within the guidelines of the “PG-13” rating system.

-All scripts must be original creations unless written permission from the author of the source material can be provided.

-All other creative elements such as music, photography, and artwork must be either original or written permission of use must be provided from the owner/creator of the work.

-Stock music must have proper credit given to the artist.

-By submitting to the GIFF High School Competition you hereby grant the Tampa Film Institute the right to publish any accepted film on the GIFF High School Competition Youtube channel.

Procedures

-All films must be submitted by February 1st, 2018

-Your film must have a 10 second slate prior to the film followed by 5 seconds of black. The slate format must be as follows:

Film TItle: (title of your film)

Team Name: (the name of your team or production group)

School: (your school)

TRT: (total running time of your film)

-You will receive a confirmation email once your project has been submitted. Notifications of acceptance/non-acceptance will be sent by March 15th, 2016
