Director Statement

'Ghunghat' is a film that originated after I analyzed my writing process. For weeks, I had been visiting different locations to find a story. This process of mine, and any writer looking for a story hidden in different places, struck me. A writer's love for exploring stories is well-known to all. I feel it is nothing less than the exploration of the self. The film contains layers in which two philosophical ideas are embedded: the primary one being chaos, and the secondary being the question of a human as free or prisoner. Searching for something around us instead of introspecting about it first is what we all tend to do. We often say that we live in chaos, and that is what the film talks about from the different perspectives of the characters. Unravelling the mystery by gathering the context of these ideas and making a comment on them is what intrigued me the most. The film explores the location, characters, their stories, ideologies, philosophy, life, poetry, and art.
