I had decided to form an independent record label back in the 70s ... When time permitted I also served as Executive Producer and Creative Producer in the studio to my artists, and that needed an independent record company to release their records, such as; Ken Roland (Singer/Songwriter/Producer/Engineer/Guitarist), Billy Red (Singer/Songwriter/Guitarist), The Tokyos (San Diego Punk Band). Once these records were pressed and made to my satisfaction I then handled the Radio Promotion for the entire US -- our first tour for Ken was California, Oregon, Washington, where we went to 200 FM radio stations -- by the time we came back he had over 2 million listeners. I did the same thing again for Billy Red and within the first week of release he was booked to play a concert in Santa Barbara -- he was fantastic! Towards the end of this period I was asked to put out one of the first So. California Punk Rock bands, The Tokyos -- upon their release they were booked into San Diego State University and were met with standing ovations and lots of body slamming! Within 90 days they had become the No. 1 airplay artists on college radio throughout the USA -- JEM Records picked up my distribution and sold out our entire first and second pressing order. The Tokyos were offered a Japan national tour but decided they wanted to go in another direction. Thirty-five years later an Italian record distributor put out our first 12" LP album of the Tokyos and sold out its order as well. Both Ken Roland and Billy Red were recorded at Sound City Studios in Van Nuys, CA. The Tokyos were recorded in a garage in North County San Diego.
