Gaze

An elderly projectionist is slowly dying in isolation. His gaze is not a herald of sanctification, but the fleeting remark of a self-proclaimed world monk. His youthful notion in the moment of eventual clarity pierces through the screen, opening a window to the world.

Director Biography - Christos Gkotsis

He graduated with a degree in Naval Architecture. He was then accepted in a Drama School, but never attended. He studied at the Hellenic Cinema School Stavrakos, the New York College Film Studies Department, the Poreia Theatre Playwriting School, the Sinopoulos Foundation Poetry workshop and the MA Creative Writing program (from which he dropped out). He also took Photography classes at the Athens School of Fine Arts and the University of Athens.
His work features elements from the rural community and the small-town environment in which he grew up. His short films have been screened at various international film festivals (Drama International Short Film Festival, Athens International Film Festival, Short Film Corner-Festival de Cannes etc.). His short film "Pledge" won Best Film & Cinematography Awards in altcineAction-Balkan Film Festival. His screenplay "Lancelot" has been awarded by the Scriptwriters Guild of Greece & "Michael Cacoyannis" Foundation. He is the writer of ''Halcyon Days'' (Odos Panos, 2022) poetic synthesis and the screenwriter of Spiros Alidakis’ first feature film ''Cure''.
He lives in Aegina, running his open-air cinema and is currently writing his debut feature script "Magna Moralia".
