Future Italian Frescoes (Altarpieces for another planet)
A large space in ruins is abandoned by who knows how many years. On the walls enormous canvases recall altarpieces whose classicism seems projected into the future. Was it an art gallery? The study of a painter? A museum? The place is imbued with the memory of someone who lived and worked in it.
An artist takes possession of space again and paints coexisting with the mystery that lives in those walls and the distressing presences that still live inside that space. The painter remains involved by the suggestions that are breathed by the abandoned altarpieces, true protagonists of the film.

Salvatore Garau (1953) was born in Sardinia (Italy). In 2021 all over the world there was talk of his "invisible sculptures". In 1974 he graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence. Three years later he joined Stormy Six, a European avant-garde rock group.
In 2003 he was present at the Venice Art Biennale. From this moment he holds countless people in important private galleries and museums: Lugano, Basel, Barcelona, London, San Francisco, Washington. In 2011 he is still invited to the Venice Biennale.
His personal exhibitions have been hosted in the museums of Saint-Etienne, Córdoba (Argentina), Milan, Brasilia, San Paolo. In 2017 he directed a medium-length film shot in a High Security prison.
Preparing the series of large paintings for an exhibition entitled "Futuri Affreschi Italiani" exhibition that it will be exhibited in various cities around the world, I have been fascinated by the great space
abandoned and decadent in which I had decided to paint. It 's really difficult to explain what was happening, while I was painting, in the silence and in the solitude of that place, something strange (very strange) actually happened. In this way the idea of the doc-thriller was born (I do not know how else to define it), that will be projected also in the museums that will host the paintings. protagonists of the film.
For this short I preferred a "dirty" photograph and tormented sequences, far from the classical film academy.
