Benjamin Rodwell is an aspiring film Director and Cinematographer currently studying at SAE Institute in Sydney Australia. “Fusion” is Benjamin's directorial debut. Previous to studying at SAE, Benjamin travelled to over 40 countries teaching himself photography/videography. His main goal is to work on a feature film for a large production company.
For my directorial debut I wanted to place similar cinematic aspects from my inspirations, Nicolas Winding Refn, Barry Jenkins and Greig Fraser. The Cinematography in their works always proves to be a characteristic I walk away thinking about. Working with an array of coloured lighting and keeping continuity proved to be a feature that needed to be perfect, thankfully I was able to work alongside the talented Dan Mallender as the DOP. His keen eye for detail not only brought my vision to life but enhanced it. Overall the biggest take away from this film was working with a crew of fellow film students. Their collaboration and team work on set gave me the confidence and drive to make this film the best we could.
