Frum Dogs of Hendon

Frum Dogs of Hendon explores the change from a traditional antipathy towards dogs to a new trend of dog ownership among the frum (religious) Jewish community in the North London suburb of Hendon. The short was funded by the UK Jewish Film Festival's short film fund in 2021 and premiered in November 2021 at the festival.

Director Biography - Dan Jacobs

Dan is a writer and director based in London. He has written for numerous publications on a vast range of subjects and is editor of the satirical website The Daily Jews. In his spare time is the Chief Technology Officer of a London based startup.

Director Statement

I made this film as a way of exploring the orthodox Jewish community in the very Jewish London suburb of Hendon. The film seeks to gain an insight into the lives of its subjects through the eyes of their dogs and with a large dose of humour.
