Frontiers of the memory

Frontiers of the memory was filmed during the pandemic against the backdrop of a massive deserted city (Sāo Paulo, Brazil). Dancers, some using wheelchairs, some visually impaired are discovered playing and subverting the idea of isolation, each one breaking their border and expanding into the world of imagination. They create encounters with the city and the other through movement and poetry. Items used in the dance include wheelchair wheels, shoes, dark goggles and water. It is a slow and stately piece of power and beauty.

Director Statement

DANCE WITHOUT FRONTIERS was created in 2010, in São Paulo, when I returned to Brazil, after living in Europe for twenty years. As the name of the company suggests it has as its main aim the creation of opportunities for all to experience dance as a source of freedom of expression through the body that has no frontiers. The company brings together disabled and non-disabled dancers from different ages, ethnic and professional backgrounds. The company incorporates different art forms to promote and make visible the dance that comes from a diverse group of performers.
