Director Biography - Soohack Lee

I am Soohak Lee, who dreams of becoming a successful film director.
Besides loving and liking movies,
I am an outsider who does not fit into the modern Korean society where specs are important.
Nevertheless, I am a dreamy young man who wants to make films.
The reason I am making a film is because I want to inform the society of the pain and cry of the youth of this age.
It is often said that youth is invaluable, but sadly, contrary to those words,
Our young people living in modern times want to get out of the bondage of youth as soon as possible and lead a stable life.
The reason I am telling this story is that in the town I live in, I feel the pain of these young people more than anyone else.
Because you are always seeing and feeling it up close. There are so many young people who want to escape from the precarious reality.
Surprisingly, when I talk with them, my heart aches because sometimes I am rather envious of myself, who has nothing but dreams.
They say that I am envious of having a dream. To them, a dream is a luxury that denies reality and leads to an unstable life.
Because it is the basis for making it. Why do we become like this? Sometimes I feel so sad.
Is even a little security a luxury for us? But still, no one thinks deeply about our troubles.
So, I don't have anything, so how can I express us...
After much deliberation in my small room, the conclusion I came to was a movie.
Because unlike young people in reality, young people in the film industry are still dreaming and living with hope,
I hope that such energy will influence young people in the real world and fill them with more courage and hope.
And that is the purpose and wish of making a film.
