After the fall of Saigon, Ut was transferred to the A.P.’s Los Angeles bureau where he went on to cover earthquakes, riots and fires for the next 40 years, before retiring in 2017. Director Biography - Jon Kroll, Scott Templeton

Jon Kroll and Scott Templeton, spent three years documenting photojournalist Nick Ut’s final days at the Associated Press. Then came the hard part – reconstructing Ut’s previous 51 years at the AP, including the story of how he came to shoot one of the world’s most iconic photos.

Kroll has previously directed three other features and produced more that 200 TV shows, including “The Amazing Race,” for which he was honored with a Primetime Emmy Award. He is currently in production on “Gordon Ramsay: Uncharted,” a primetime series for National Geographic. Originally from Northern California, Kroll was raised on a Mendocino County commune without television or electricity. He lives in Los Angeles with his wife, competitive archer Karen Kroll.

Templeton is an award-winning producer who has been developing and producing television shows and new media projects for over 30 years. With over 6,000 episodes of programming under his belt, Templeton has worked in almost every television scripted and non-scripted genre, including reality, animation, lifestyle, documentary, sitcom, dramas, news, game show, talk show, variety and award shows. He’s one part executive, one part creative and two parts nerd.
