From Constantinople to New York

The Septemvriana, also known as Istanbul pogrom, was the anti-Greek pogrom of September 6-7, 1955 in Istanbul and Smyrna, in connection with the Cyprus Issue dispute. As it was later proved, the riots were a government-instigated pogrom against the Greek minority of Istanbul. Septemvriana is considered comparable to the Kristallnacht (Crystallnight) waves of violence that the Nazi authorities perpetrated against Jewish people during November of 1938 ("crime against humanity").
