This is a story about an unexpected friendship between a straight guy, homophobic, and a gay guy. Thanks to a forced cohabitation, they both will learn to go beyond their own bias. The aim is to create a "buddy movie", a film about friendship and not a love story, not a typical gay movie. Our goal is to communicate to a heterogeneous audience, making them laugh and reflect at the same time. Comedy can be revolutionary when it manages to overcome prejudice.
The civil unions, for example, for people of the same sex, are now a reality in many countries. Unfortunately, the path to a more informed and tolerant society, towards the conquest of civil rights and fighting prejudice, is still long. Every day in Italy we still read in the newspapers about violent homophobic episodes mostly of them involves kids and teens are even driven to suicide just because they do not feel accepted by their peers.
Just to let you understand the kind of comedy I am thinking about I will tell you that the movies that inspired me are the 2004 Australian film “Strange Bedfellows” with Paul Hogan, directed by Dean Murphy, “In and Out” the 1997 with Kevin Kline directed by Frank Oz, the French film "Intouchables" (Untouchable), box office hit in 2011, directed by Olivier Nakache and Eric Toledano.
