Freo on the Couch
In the funkiest town in Australia, a little but well known place on the West Coast called Fremantle, sixteen interviewees express the process of change by which artists are pushed to outskirts & the big developers set in. The local folks' home and sense of identity undergoes a process of gentrification. Fremantle, more commonly known as Freo, is known as a place where people arrive at and they never leave; a bubble of sorts, an enigma that no-one can quite capture. Using five generic questions and with both Aboriginal history & heritage in mind, Freo on the Couch searches for the essence of Fremantle and delves deep into the question of what on Earth Freo actually is!

The feedback for Freo on the Couch makes me think there is something worthwhile here to share. While it is made on amateur, budget equipment, I believe in its value as a story of a small town within the context of a larger world where the process of gentrification is happening extensively. It is the first creative project by which I have given my entire heart, life and soul & I am proud of my accomplishment.
