Frank Vitale’s underground classic MONTREAL MAIN played at Locarno, London, AFI, MoMA, Orson Wells and opened the Whitney Film Series the year it was produced.
Montreal Main was a genre bending, experimental docufiction feature. After Montreal Main Vitale was absent from the movie making scene for decades. It took him a long time to realize that he was not meant for traditional films and was more comfortable with and had an affinity for an unconventional style of filmmaking.
In his new movie, EROTIC FIRE OF THE UNATTAINABLE, he has returned to his own unique style of docufiction filmmaking that feels like a documentary but is completely fiction. It delves into people’s lives to create something that is honest and authentic.
