Isabella (1998) was born in Guatemala City to complete her family of 5. Currently, she is pursuing studies in the field of cinema, specifically production, directing, editing, and scriptwriting. Throughout her university career, Isabella has had the opportunity to write several short film scripts and be involved in projects as an executive producer or within the production team. She has also worked in the directing department as a first and second assistant director and script supervisor.
Throughout our lives, we relate to different people in various ways: friends, family, coworkers, romantic partners. By nature, humans are meant to live in community, so when we separate from someone who means the world to us, all we see is the empty space that this person has left.
This short film has given me the opportunity to see this situation from an empathetic and objective point of view. The film is not afraid of reality. Instead of ignoring or changing it, it celebrates it. It recognizes the emotions and, instead of seeing them as something as simple as happiness being good and sadness being bad, it acknowledges them as something human and complex. Sometimes, we need that pain and sadness in order to grow as individuals and continue progressing in life.
This project is very important to me, not only because of its emotional value but also because it represents the beginning of my professional career as a director, producer, and screenwriter. It has given me the opportunity to validate the knowledge I have gathered during my studies, as well as my passion for production and scriptwriting. It has also allowed me to see how empowering it is to direct your own project, something that I am eagerly looking forward to experiencing again.
