There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you.
Maya Angelou
According to my Grandmother, I have been a great storyteller since I began to talk. I always had some grandiose narrative to explain why something had or had not occurred. I was a child with a great imagination and the ability to vividly share my stories with family and friends.
Unfortunately growing up in my small town, my stories were not always appreciated by my relatives or peers. I had too much to say. Every tale was so detailed and intricate that people always felt I was spinning fables. I was only sharing the world as my mind viewed it. I stopped sharing my stories, but could never shut them off in my head.
In 2005, I moved to Hollywood to pursue a career in film and television production. I have worked in every facet of the business and have learned to not suppress my stories. My preference is documentary filmmaking as the genre shows real life occurrences and takes a great storyteller to present those stories in a succinct, entertaining fashion. I’ve worked for several A-list managers, writers and producers; done numerous short films and produced a stage play and short films. I am ready to share my stories with the world.
My name is DaVida Chanel.
I am a storyteller.
No story shall remain untold.
