FotoFocus is a Cincinnati-based nonprofit arts organization that champions photography and lens-based art through exhibitions and public programming. Since 2010, the organization has engaged art and educational institutions throughout the region to support and expand the cultural dialogue around the medium that has come to define our time.

FotoFocus has launched a new free monthly film series across Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky every second Tuesday in 2020 titled SECOND SCREENS, which celebrates the non-profit organization’s tenth anniversary and expands its mission of promoting lens-based art to fully encompass film, video, and the moving image.

FotoFocus is requesting submissions of animation work that considers the various ways that sex and the human form are represented in both historical and contemporary styles of animation. The screening to be held on June 9, titled NSFW (Animation For Adults), will be a mix of established makers (such as Suzan Pitt) and regional makers who reside within a 150 mile radius of Cincinnati. The 150 mile region includes filmmakers submitting from Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, and West Virginia.

A small honorarium will be provided to each artist/filmmaker for their inclusion in the program.

All forms of animation are accepted - from hand-drawn, to stop-motion and computer. Any genre is welcome, as long as the work explores sex and the human body in innovative ways by using the techniques of animation to challenge conventional representations of form. There is no date restriction on the work (could have been made 20 years ago or yesterday), but the maker must reside within 150 miles of Cincinnati, Ohio, USA. All filmmakers who live outside of this boundary are not eligible. It is FREE to submit work, and there is no limit to the number of submissions per maker.
