Fostering Sustainable Green
Rapid urbanization in large metropolitan cities has lead to immense vehicular pollution, leading to air and noise pollution, adding up are various chronic illness of its people.
Greenery has always been a treat for the eyes and a resort to the soul and mind since the time man defined ' Beauty'. Therefore, to add aesthetics and create an eco-friendly environment for the city dwellers, our government has come up with a plan of roadside plantation, that would help reduce impacts of air pollution, noise pollution and dust as trees serve as natural sinks. Roadside plantation would help in maintaining biodiversity, prevent soil erosion and maintain the soil-water ratio in concrete cities, also help in carbon sequestration.
But, if proper scientific ways are not followed, it leads to trees falling under the impact of storms, leading to destruction of property, lives of people, electric supply wires, road blockage, etc. Trees are being uprooted for not choosing deep rooted varieties. Specific area, proper location or space are also not maintained properly for a single plant growth.
Thus, this film based on the Kolkata streets appeals to carry out the good deed of roadside plantation in a proper , planned and scientific manner.
