Forking Rooms

Forking Rooms is an animated short film in first-person view, documenting an impossible journey through nested spaces that are connected through screens. The spaces are quarantine rooms in Hong Kong and Mainland China over the Covid-19 pandemic, a period of time when bedroom walls became the outer facade of the building and screens served as windows.
The spaces, including quarantine hotel rooms and apartment bedrooms where one worked from home, were captured with photogrammetry and represented as point clouds. The film is also an exploration of the artistic expression of this medium.
The project was supported by Design Trust and the 9th Bi-City Biennale of Urbanism/Architecture (Shenzhen).
