Director Biography - Geuriel Mac Danini

Geuriel Danini is a Hispanic filmmaker from Grand Rapids who was born on April 21st, 1999. He is currently attending Compass College of Cinematic Arts, Where he is studying for a Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts in Post Production. From making stop motion short films with action figures as a kid to editing various short films as a young adult, Danini has loved telling stories. Filmmakers like Phil Lord, Chris Miller, Christopher Nolan, and Edgar Wright inspired Geuriel Danini to make films that are fun, tell a good story, and have editing that grabs the audience.

Director Statement

I challenged myself by creating a piece that communicates to the audience how easy it is for something nice to be ruined by wanting more. How greed and unhappiness can take everything from you but in the end only have yourself to blame. The piece is unsettling but satisfying at the same time. Through darker colors, harsh shadow lighting, and fast-paced editing, I wanted to please the eyes of the viewer watching the short film knowing that the pleasure comes with a price.
