Writer Biography - Chris K. Daniels, Jenny Whipple

Chris K. Daniels is a director/writer from Boston, Massachusetts. He’s best known for his psychological thriller and stylized storytelling through his short films. Chris tends to focus his work on offbeat, conceptual twists of reality. He seeks to bring forth interesting forms of 'what if' questions, and answer those through his stories. Chris has been creating short films for the majority of his life. From the day he made his very first YouTube channel in fourth grade, to the day he landed his first distribution deal in college, he’s held onto his passion. Always trying to evolve and become a better version of himself.
All-in-all, Chris just loves to create. He's a young man passionate about making movies that mean something. He hopes to tell stories for the rest of his life.

Jenny Whipple is a visual artist, cinematographer, writer, sculptor, painter and pretty much just an all around artist in every way imaginable. She's been surrounded by all things art since she was old enough to lift a pencil. She experiments with literally all art forms in one way or another. With her varying skill in art as a whole, she's grown to focus heavily on production design within the film industry. She uses her background in illustration to give her sets thoroughly mapped-out and dynamic designs. Specifically, in helping to develop the world of this story, her experience in production design was crucial. She thought of things in the most incredibly visual, detailed and methodical way, which brought this story to life.

Writer Statement

We're incredibly inspired by the thriller/horror category in general. So many of our favorite films are in this genre, so it’s super exciting to get this chance to contribute to it! For this project, a lot of our inspiration comes from the work of amazing filmmakers like Jordan Peele, David Robert Mitchell, Denis Villeneue and Stanley Kubrick. Those fellas are quite talented. We're inspired by many different aspects of the wide range of work from all these directors. Things like the way Peele uses suspense in Get Out, the way David Robert Mitchell uses concept and rules in It Follows, the way Villeneue emphasizes and builds depth to his characters and the way Kubrick creates intentional uneasiness through everything he does with his films. We're deeply inspired by the greats, but the part that's most inspiring within these filmmakers' works is their distinct style. We really tried to learn from that and adapt our own unique and exciting style to bring our story to life in the most compelling ways imaginable.
