You don’t have to have an expensive camera, a high end editing system, or
a paid film crew ( you can if you want), but you do have to believe in
your work and believe in it’s purpose as a moving image experience.

Make us laugh, make us cry, bring us to our knees or make us jump for
Joy. Blow us away with your creativity or give us reason to pause…..we
want to watch wonderful films that we may never have gotten to see if we
hadn’t started this festival… films that honor the moving image and creativity.
Films that don't fit the mold of other fests...we're different.

We don't care when it was made as long as it is not older than you. We don't care what awards it has won or how many other festivals it has been in...we want to share those gems that you shared with friends, or thought day and night about doing and finally did on your phone because you couldn't afford a big camera, but you love movies and the moving image.

We want to share them with others. Your film can be made, with a video camera, a film camera (super 8mm or 16mm), on your phone, or any digital or analog source that captures the moving image. It can be animated, or stop motion, or fast motion, or slow motion.....

Film entries must be accompanied by a no more than one page
statement of purpose, telling us why you made the film, why you love it, and what makes it guerrilla filmmaking….we won’t hold it against you if it’s not a
do it yourself low budget operation, but it helps if it is. The guerrilla low budget film element is the creative challenge that we are looking for.

"Guerrilla filmmaking is driven by passion with whatever means is at hand"

The Festival will be held over
two days in the spring,
May 19-20, 2017
at Dixon Springs State Park, Southern Illinois

Our top award - THE LAUREL AND HARDY HANDSHAKE AWARD

all other awards are driven by the people that watch the films...
audience awards. Please the crowd and you will get an award.

Flying Frames was a quaint film festival located in a beautiful state park in Southern Illinois. The staff were very friendly and the audience, sparse though they were, were enthusiastic. What I enjoyed best was the character of the films they selected. Many festivals equate the quality of a film by how much it resembles what is shown on TV and in the movie theaters. They accepted films that were out of the box and either creative and/or substantive. I would go again.

    Response from festival:

Gary, we loved your film, watched it several times and read your written submission several times as well. You caught the drift of the whole fest. We were proud to screen your work.

  • Joseph Villapaz

I was unable to attend the festival so I can't review my experience attending but I was very pleased when my films were selected for screening and had friendly communications back and forth. So my ratings reflect that. If I had been able to attend I would've been able to rate the other categories.

  • Tina Brand

I was delighted to find a festival dedicated to 'guerilla' filmmaking and thrilled to have my film accepted. I could not attend the festival but was impressed with the clarity of the mission and rules, as well as the prompt reply I got from an organizer when I reached out to the festival after being notified of my acceptance. I also very much enjoyed reading through the festival schedule of screenings on the website!

Tina, INTO THE OVOID, was big hit. We all not only loved the film and your wonderful eggs, but audience reactions to the meaning were varied and thoughtful. Great to have your work in our Fest, thank you and good luck with all your endeavors.
