Director Statement

The inspiration of this story came from a 2016 case involving a missing Chinese scholar in Illinois, US. What intrigue me the most about that case is not the identity of the kidnapper, nor how this kidnapper planned his crime, but why would such a tragedy happen? What does it mean to travel all the way from China to the US to study? This is what I attempted to explore through this short film. However, my objective is not to provide an answer, but to open up further discussion that leads to opportunity to bridge the gap between the East and the West.
