As a filmmaker Christopher has spent the past 17-years capturing authentic stories with his camera. Whether documentary or narrative, his films are often noted for their authentic performances and emotional responses from audiences.
In 2007, Chris founded his production company Rosedale where he and his team of filmmakers have had the pleasure of partnering with agencies, brands, and non-profits from all over the country.
Equipped with the heart of a teacher, he has also instructed hundreds of filmmakers on how to make better films for their churches and non-profits through his online educational platform churchfilmschool.com.
Chris and his wife, Krista, live in San Diego, California.
Many of the documentary projects I have directed over the years have been gritty and raw. My deep love of authentic, real-life stories has often taken me into the shadows of society. I've laughed and cried with brave people from all walks of life which has been deeply moving in my own life, but there's always been something that has bothered me. Many of my films have captured profound stories that would benefit so many people, but because of the style and content are often limited to niche audiences.
The genesis of this project was an attempt to solve this problem - how can I take the beautiful life lessons from my previous documentary work and translate that into a family-focused narrative film that broader audiences—including children—can relate to? Can I weave these truths into a heartwarming parable?
While themes of relationship, self-sacrifice, bravery, and rescue rise to the top of this film, below the surface—every character, every prop, and every piece of set design represents a real person from my past work. My hope is that every audience member is able to receive a theme from this film that will inspire them to live a richer, more emotionally connected life.
