Director Statement

In January 2018, I was asked to direct and shoot a short documentary in Haiti - a country so foreign and mysterious to me. Haiti has been painted in a bad light by the media, especially with our current administration. I related to this deeply, as I'm from the Philippines. “Florise - The Beauty of Haiti” aims to showcase the true beauty of Haiti through the eyes of a 15 year old girl named Florise. I’ve never been so passionate about a piece, especially since everyone that worked on it did it entirely out of passion to tell a simple yet powerful story. My experience in Haiti really left a mark, as it reminded me so much of home, which I will never forget.I hope the world can see the beauty of Haiti the same way we did.
