Director Biography - Tom Whitson

Founder of ATM Films, I have won 'Best Editing' at the International Silent Film Festival, and since moving to Bristol have made a number of well-received short films and documentaries with my film company, as well as independent freelance projects, such as promotion for music events.
'Florida when it Fizzles' is my directorial debut, and signals a culmination of the short film work which ATM Films have been making for the last two years. We have built up a small but loyal following, and aim to use this feature film to spread our fanbase and gain funding for future projects.

Director Statement

During pre-production, I threw my moral compass out the window - the moment we decided the actors would be playing versions of themselves. Encouraging your friends to tap into tropes of their character proved to be a wholly unhealthy thing to do, but it paid off.
A product of a small but intimate cast and crew, I believe my directorial debut is full of heart, laughs, and an interesting exploration into the process of film-making.
