Born & raised in Central Kentucky, Michael started doing stand-up comedy in the SF Bay Area in 2013 and quickly rose to doing showcases in Oakland, Hollister, Fresno, Sacramento and all over. In December of 2017, he recorded his first stand-up special “Live on the Sunnyvale Strip. His Writing/Directorial debut came in 2016 when he premiered his comedy horror short film "Comedy of the Corn" at the San Jose Improv. He was also the co-host of the award winning podcast “In the Galaxy” where he interviewed notable people in the music industry such as Jerry Heller and spotlighted upcoming musical acts. In 2018, he moved to Los Angeles and recorded his iTunes album “Once Upon a Time… in Malibu and performed in Montreal, Canada. He has appeared on many commercials and TV shows; NCIS, The Neighborhood, Hollywood, SWAT, to name a few. Michael is currently writing, performing, pitching, and producing (not necessarily in that in order) and is also a regular on UBNGO’s Drinks with Dee Dee Podcast hosted by Emmy Award Winner Dee Dee Sorvino. Michael resides in Northern California with his wife Heidi and son Ambrose.
I chose to direct this film because I wanted to make something funny that was also thought provoking about stereotypes. Some of the challenges making this film was a low budget (lower than low actually-haha). I was inspired by the work of Nelly and Florida Georgia Line. Nelly’s music has always been at the top of my list and his collaboration with Tim MacGraw back in the day was really forward thinking, in my humble opinion. The film turned out to be different than the script because we lost some light with the pool scenes and I decided to do a narration over some weirdly exposed pool scenes to show how fame distorts our perspective and makes us greedy. Once I pointed this out, we decided that a narration where I point out other things that guide us as well. In one episode of Drinks with Dee Dee Podcast, Sir Paul Sorvino gave me a lot of encouragement about filmmaking and it meant a lot to me. So, in true Goodfellas fashion, I knew the narration was golden and paid homage to Paul and that film. Young Henry in the film, Chris Serrone, also encouraged me over Zoom too. So any skepticism I had about narration was gone when I thought about Goodfellas and paying homage to Serrone and Sorvino for the encouragement. I truly hope the humor in this film surpasses any flaws and lightens people’s spirits.
