WINNER: Best Narrative Fiction
Born and raised in Blackpool, Jordan has been passionate about cinema and the visual arts since a young age. Jordan went on to study at the prestigious Manchester School of Art between 2014-2017, graduating with a First class honours degree in Filmmaking, and is currently pursuing career as a Director whilst undertaking freelance projects.
Jordan has recently finished his latest short film, 'The Fleece, the Tie & Clarke (2018)'.
When I first read the short story of 'The Fleece, the Tie & Clarke', I didn't like it. However, it quickly grew on me, and before long I could see its boundless potential. Over the coming months I worked hard to improve myself as a writer, edging the script closer to what would become my final vision for the film. Working in close collaboration with Jordan Hayward (Writer, short story) we were able to bring out the best from one another and crafted every detail of the script with as much care and attention that the film was made with. Without his imagination, none of it would have been possible, and thanks to the magnificently talented cast & crew who worked tirelessly, my dark and sinister, yet humorous vision for the film was realised.
Whilst awards and industry recognition are attractive prospects, my number one goal as a filmmaker will always be to provide the audience with a unique cinema experience, some escapism from everyday life. It must not be mindless escapism, but escapism that offers intellectual stimulation, connects emotionally, and leaves a lasting impression on people. I want to bring this film to the widest possible audience, so that, love it or hate it, they can experience a film that is truly different.
