Director Biography - Riyaz Alladin

I grew up in Berkeley, CA, and started making short films late into my 8th-grade year of middle school. Since then my passion has transitioned specifically into cinematography. I am now beginning my first year in Film School at Cal State Northridge.

Director Statement

Because I'm drawn to cinematography, the visuals for this film came to mind first. I was inspired by the film "The Big Lebowski" and the song "A Horse With No Name" for the color scheme, costuming, set design, and environment. My intention for this film was to make a funny, well-rounded story since I've always struggled with plot structure and character development.

Because I had a minimal budget, I spent a while making the most of what I had. I used a cheap Nikon camera and asked my family to be actors. I was focused more on strengthening myself as a creator and leader than on expensive gear or industry-grade actors. I think one of the most important parts of filmmaking is being able to still call yourself a decent person after each shoot.
