Director Biography - Marc Zahn

My way into the arts

I'm not one of the many people who can say I have acted all my life or I have known that I wanted to be in movies from an early age on. In fact, I'm one of those late starters that objected every "regular" pursuit after grammar school. I remember watching The Pursuit of Happiness again and virtually over night I started wondering what actors do to land a role in a movie and whether there is a craft to the whole circus.

Not only was I intrigued by the results of my research, it literally blew me away and right onto the phenomenal, first film set of my life, shooting The Three Musketeers 3D, directed by Paul W.S. Anderson. That background work enabled me to take in and pay close attention to everything that was going on on set and to fathom what tremendous collaborative effort is required to make a motion picture.

Shortly after that I enrolled at the New York Film Academy at Universal Studios LA to earn the Associate of Fine Arts Degree in Acting for Film and successfully graduated in June 2012.

Since September of that same year I have begun to tackle the professional world and contentedly admit it's nothing like I imagined.

Probably the most fulfilling quality of my job is its potential to reach and possibly change an indefinite amount of people's lives, and I hope to keep being able to do that in the future.

This project is close to heart and marks my very first self-produced film and I'm very lucky and proud to have been able to use Taiwan, a country that has given me so much, as the backdrop, in fact as a powerful foundation of this self-introductory short. I'm forever grateful and aim to shine more light on this still so underrated and globally little known island.
