I am from Uruguay where I started to work as a photographer for the local
newspaper in 2014. This awakened my passion for portraying the humanity of
people in my photographs and films. I have directed three short films while living in Uruguay
and directing First Date was an exciting new challenge in my career as a
director.
I feel strongly connected with the story Áine Ryan has written because I lost
my mother when I was a child. I’m always in contact with loneliness. Although
this was a difficult event in my life, the key was to be able to re-signify the
event and emotion that came with it, and give it a new meaning. That's why
telling this story for me is an opportunity to show how I relate to life in the
sense that it's not what happens to us that frames our outlook but how we
relate to it. The humour for me is that how.
