ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS, N.J. ⎼ The Atlantic Highlands Arts Council’s FilmOneFest is partnering with Monmouth University to host their third annual Film Slam at Monmouth’s Lauren K. Woods Theatre at 370 Cedar Avenue, West Long Branch, N.J. on April 20-21, 2018 starting at 7 pm. The Film Slam is a free 24-hour filmmaking competition in which teams of any size compete to create an original film under two minutes in length that includes specific elements assigned to them. At the start of the competition all teams will receive a prop, location, and line of dialogue that they must incorporate into their film. Teams will have exactly 24 hours to complete their film and deliver the finished product back to the Woods Theatre by Saturday evening. National and International teams compete in addition to local teams, and receive their instructions and submit their films virtually.

Films will be judged on originality, creative inclusion of the prop, dialogue, and location, production value, and strength of storytelling. The winning team receives a $250 cash prize. A $200 prize for Audience Choice Award will also be awarded. The top three winning films will be featured on the big screen at the 2018 FilmOneFest on Sat., July 21, 2018 in Atlantic Highlands Marina.

Complete and email the Participant Forms found at https://filmonefest.org/24-hour-film-slam-2018 Then show up at the Lauren K Woods Theatre at Monmouth University on Friday, April 20th at 7pm. If you are from outside of New Jersey and participating virtually, monitor our website and FB page for the kickoff “assignment”!

At exactly 7:30pm on Friday, the “assignment” will be given to all the teams and posted on our website and FB page. The assignment includes:
1) A Location
2) A Prop
3) A Line of Dialogue
Teams will have exactly 24 hours to create a super short film (under 2 minutes).
All teams must bring their film to the Wood Theatre (370 Cedar Ave, West Long Branch, NJ) or upload it if participating virtually, by 7:30pm, Saturday, April 21st.
Films will be screened beginning at 8pm and judged by our FilmOneFest judging panel based on the creative inclusion of the assignment items.
