Batto Ka Bulbula
In a rustic village in Haryana, lives Batto, a genial yet alcoholic elderly man, who seeks to sell the last piece of his land to leave with his estranged friend, Sultan. Batto's wife died a decade ago in an accident, leaving him with an adopted son, Bittu, who desires to inherit the last piece of land for himself. Bittu deceives Batto, prompting Batto to question his relationships, his choices, and the life he has led with Sultan and alcohol. Sultan, who harbors doubts, confronts Batto for the truth. Through trials of deception and betrayal, Batto learns the importance of skepticism, resilience, and the enduring strength of genuine friendship.

Akshay Bhardwaj is a filmmaker and graduate of the Faculty of Film and Television (DLCSupva). His graduation film premiered at the 55th IFFI Goa. Akshay’s work focuses on stories from rural Haryana, highlighting the lives of marginalized, outcast characters who exist outside society’s norms. Known for his raw, authentic storytelling, he is currently developing his debut feature film, continuing his exploration of human resilience and untold stories.
My stories explore the balance between the joy being carefree and the burden of being care less, capturing how these forces shape my characters' lives.
