The heart of the film world in Bath, FilmBath (previously Bath Film Festival) is the home of FilmBath Festival, the F-Rating, FilmScore, the IMDb Awards, Pop-up Screenings and more.

FilmBath Festival has been screening brilliant films in Bath since 1990. Every autumn the festival presents a great programme crammed with the films everyone will be talking about next year as well as new-to-view features, shorts and docs from across the world, plus insider talks, talent awards and special strands focusing on films made by women, classic cinema, family viewing, sci-fi, art & design and more.

With our F-Rating (https://www.facebook.com/F.Rated.org/) we champion women on screen and behind the camera.

We welcome short film submissions and run various FilmBath Awards including the IMDb Script to Screen Award (£5,000 cash prize for the best script for a short film) and the IMDb New Filmmaker Award (£1,000 for the best short film).

We also run film-making and animation workshops for adults and young people to foster South West film-making talent and we work with schools and universities to foster an appreciation of film culture for the future.

Our acclaimed Sounds to Silents projects are a potent mix of silent film plus specially-composed live music - we have worked with Will Gregory of Goldfrapp, jazz saxophonist Andy Sheppard, and pop-art performers The Real Tuesday Weld amongst others.

Through the year we screen thought-provoking films with special guests in our FilmClub.

Please check the rules for the category you are interested in.

PLEASE do not ask for a fee waiver.

We do not offer fee waivers because a) we are a charity, just as impoverish as any filmmaker and b) we have to be fair to all and it would be unfair to offer a waiver to some and not to others.

We source our own features.

NB: Payment of submission fee does NOT guarantee that your film will be screened.

We will of course read ALL scripts submitted, and watch ALL films submitted.

We also contact ALL submitters whether or not they are successful. If you have not heard from us by mid-October, please check your spam, thank you.

Massive thanks to FilmBath and IMDb for putting on my work — it was such a blast to see my story performed, and I really enjoyed getting to meet the other finalists. Holly was a fantastic host, and I'll certainly be entering again. Thank you!

I can't say enough great things about this event! Holly and her team were phenomenal with communication (especially with the change from their normal live event to online) and I loved meeting the other finalists in advance...and watching the actors from Bath Spa University do the table read of my screenplay was delightful! Thank you so much for including my screenplay as a finalist and to the judges for their thoughtful and personal feedback. Big thank you to all involved and I was truly honored to be part of this....would recommend submitting to everyone!

Really pleased to have made it to the Finals of this brilliantly conceived, well run competition. It was even good in lockdown, so it is easy to imagine how good the real live event might be. A great way to get your writing aired. Thank you to IMDb, FilmBath and the students from Bath Spa Uni who performed such great script reads.

I really can't praise FilmBath enough. The edition of the competition which just passed was the first time the team needed to present it as an online event. Despite this, the Script to Screen Awards 2020 were one of the best organised, most immersive and engaging experiences I've had since the lockdown started earlier this year.

Holly gave all the shortlisted writers such a warm welcome and made sure we all had the chance to chat and wish each other well before the awards night––something which sometimes doesn't even happen at live events.

Col, Amma and Andrea made for a brilliant panel to kickstart the table reads with their wonderful mix of experience and insight. I was so impressed with the lengthy and carefully considered feedback they gave on all the scripts as well.

Unlike some other festivals and screenwriting competitions I've participated in, FilmBath and IMDb leave no stone unturned in showing the writers how genuinely invested they are in engaging with and showcasing the work.

Winning the 2020 award for my short film 'Lambing' has been a huge boost of confidence for me as a filmmaker, and I can't wait to bring the finished film to the FilmBath Festival next year.

An absolute gem! The communication was great, the judges were genuine and you could tell they had read and deeply thought about each shortlisted script. Couldn't recommend more! I'll be sure to submit any future scripts.
