Fighting Spirit is a UK based group that organises martial arts and action themed Film Festivals throughout the country. Now in our 7th year, we have hosted events in London and Birmingham, and have built connections internationally with other film festivals in the UK, Spain, USA, South Korea, and Italy, with more in the pipeline.

Our aims are to support, inspire, recognise, promote, and connect people who have a love of martial arts, action, and film. We support the martial arts and action film community, which includes but is not exclusive to practitioners, teachers, film makers, stunt men and women, and of course, the fans. To do this, we screen short films, feature films, and also have live martial arts demonstrations as part of the events.

In addition to screening films, we also host a variety of short film awards to help support and promote and inspire those who are part of the film making process. Our previous award winners have gone on to win multiple awards in festivals all over the world, and we want to keep this momentum up in the future, and keep supporting the next generation of talent.

2022 is the first year that we are opening up for feature submissions as well. At the moment we haven't got an award category for features but this will be reviewed later on in the year.

The next festival will take place in London in September, and we would like to invite any submissions which would fit our theme.

  • Though I was not able to attend it, it was nevertheless a great experience having to speak with the organizers. Will try to be in next year.

Although I could not attend personally, I saw through social media posts and heard from friends that attended the festival that it was very well organised and the staff took great care of all the participants. A Whatsapp group was created which included all the filmmakers whose work got selected and the staff would share information and photos from the festival in the group. Filmmakers could also interact with each other. This feature was unique to this festival and thought it was a great addition.

Fighting Spirit is UK's best action based Film Festival I've attended. Run by a passionate team who very much care about the filmmakers and films they show, with a drive to establish a strong community. They have a fantastic variety of films, and we were honoured to win several awards this year. With most festivals going on line, we really appreciated the dates being pushed till after lockdown 2.0 so we could all get together within socially distanced guidelines and see the films on the big screen.
