Fight for Ukraine-12 Women's War
Fight for Ukraine: 12 Women's War is a 2023 documentary film that follows twelve Ukrainian women from all walks of life, women who have been redefined by the war in their homeland. Their relentless challenges and agonizing losses are documented in never-before-seen footage captured covertly in May 2023 in the cities and countryside — and on the very fringe of the front lines.
This documentary examines how women have maintained their humanity in the face of horror, amidst atrocities, and reveals how they created their own pathways to impact a nation underscored by fear — fear of occupation, fear of the brutality that awaits being captured, and fear of the unknown. With a far-reaching purpose, something greater than themselves, every woman interviewed said she was fighting for her children’s future and for their Motherland.
Their courage and bravery is nothing less than inspirational. These compelling stories illustrate the humanity we all share; they cause us to examine questions like, What is the value of life? What is the responsibility of all mankind? It becomes apparent that as these women weigh all of this, they realize that their sacrifice — for future generations, for their homeland — is worth more than their lives.

“Women bring life into the world — the value of life is hardwired and part of our humanity. If you think about it, most wars are perpetrated and created by men, while women so often have a different role, saving lives instead.
In this documentary we present women’s stories that help us to understand how, despite the attacks, the bombs, the drones, the torture — with all that in mind, we ask how they can maintain their humanity while facing ‘kill or be killed’.”
