Fight For the Family

Jerome and Shelia Porter have been married for 5 years. Jerome has two children from a previous marriage (Jerome Jr. and Ashley) and together they have two, Phillip and Malachi. Three years ago, Jerome and Shelia decided to open up a consulting firm and have been very successful. In the past year, they have opened up two more offices.
Two years ago, Jerome enters the ministry and Pastor Bryant from Houston helps him start a church in Detroit. The ministry is growing by leaps and bounds, faster than he expected, and Jerome is called away from the home-front quite often on speaking engagements. As his First-Lady, Sheila maintains things at home and the office when he goes away, but also has her share of engagements.
Jerome Jr is attending college and plans on taking over the family business after graduation so his father can become a full-time minister. He’s on the Dean List, just pledged Alpha Phi Alpha and was voted Class Vice President last year. Ashley is about to graduate from high school with honors and is being courted by many prestigious colleges and universities.
From the outside, the Porters appear to be the modern-day Huxtables. Educated, nice home, vehicles, money, saved, spiritually well rounded and founded. All the things that make up a successful family but are they ready for what’s about to happen.
JJ decides that he wants to spend time with his buddies before heading back to school. His father and Sheila give him permission to spend a week with Travis, his best friend. Unknowing to them, Travis is not the same young man that they knew when he and JJ were growing up, and neither is JJ. Before JJ leaves to go back to school, Sheila finds something that he left behind in her car. When she confronts him about it, he denies that it was his and said that one of his boys left it in there the night before. Pretty sure he’s telling the truth, she puts the matter to rest until a family friend brings him home early one morning.
Seeing the devastation that his family will ultimately face, Jerome knows that he must fight for his family!
