1.1 -. Organizing and dates
The III International Film Festival Orchid - Cuenca is an initiative of the Province of Azuay and will take place between 14 and 21 November 2014.
1.2 -. Eligibility
Works completed after 1 January 2013 may participate. Ecuadorian films or foreign films that participate in the Festival will be contacted directly and invited by the organization. From this fourth edition of the Festival, may also enroll through an open call to find on the web page itself.
1.3 -. Sections
The Festival program will include competitive and non-competitive sections. The films scheduled to be included in the section that the selection committee considers appropriate.
1.4 -. Participation
1.4.1 -. Viewing materials sent for pre-selection to not be returned and will become part of the acquis of the Festival. Under no circumstances Festival will showcase these copies without prior permission from the rights holders.
. 1.4.2 - Once agreed a work participation in the Festival can not be withdrawn from the program; can not be displayed by any other means in Ecuador before its premiere at the Orchid Festival - Cuenca.
1.4.3 -. Producers and distributors of films receiving awards in various categories undertake to include in advertising materials and press the "Official Selection - Film Festival Orchid - Cuenca" and use the same logo . This commitment to the commercial release in cinemas applies commercial launchings in any medium.
1.4.4 -. Movies All participants in the various sections of the Festival will be presented in the original. Those whose original language is not Spanish subtitles take this language.
1.4.5 -. Producers and distributors of films selected undertake not to disclose its participation in the Festival until programming is announced by the organization in a press conference.
2 -. COMPETITIVE SECTIONS
. 2.1 - International Feature: Competitive Official Selection oriented display up to 12 foreign films gender argument, or Ecuadorian.
. 2.2 - Opera Prima Iberoamericana: Competitive Selection Iberoamericana up to 12 feature films oriented display of first and second Latin American fiction films.
. 2.3 - Ecuadorian Short: Competitive Selection of up to 15 short films made Ecuadorian fiction in any medium.
2.4 - Production "Running". Latinoamericana Competitive Selection oriented project up to 12 feature film projects, Ecuadorian and Latin American production in preparation. (Refer to the specific bases)
3 -. JURY
3.1 -. Festival organizers will appoint the judges for each category.
3.2 -. In each category the jury will be composed of three members, at least one foreigner and one Ecuadorian.
3.3 -. Under no circumstances will join the jury persons directly connected with the competing works.
3.4 -. Jury's votes will be secret and decisions shall be taken unanimously.
3.5 -. Prizes may not be declared void.
3.6 -. Jurors agree not to publicly express their opinions on the films under consideration, before the official announcement of the awards.
3.7 -. The decision of the judges is final.
4 -. AWARDS
For this fourth edition of the festival will present the "Orchid" award in the following categories:
. 4.1 - Competitive Official Selection International Feature film
The Orchid "for best international feature film (statuette to be delivered to the producer).

The New Orchid Award for Best Director Iberoamericana Opera Prima is a statuette and a cash prize of $ 3,000 (three thousand dollars).
. 4.3 - Competitive Ecuadorian Short Film Official Selection:
"Orchid" Best Short Film
"Manuel Calisto" Award for Best Performance in a short film
Prize for the most voted in the short film website. (figurine)
The Ecuadorian Orchid awards for Best Short Film and Callisto Award for Best Performance consists of a statuette and a cash prize. At first you will be awarded $ 1.500 director (five hundred thousand U.S. dollars). The second granted to it the actor or actress $ 1,000 (U.S. $ Mil).
4.4 - Official Competition Section "Step Up.": A prize will be awarded in post-production services that will be delivered by specialized sponsoring companies.
4.5 -. The jury may nominate not more than an honorable mention in each category.
. 5 - SELECTED FILMS
5.1 -. Catalog, promotional material and press
5.1.1 -. Aiming to properly edit the catalog and other printed matter, representatives of selected films provide the necessary material. The Festival will receive a full registration record three frames of film and photography director.
5.1.2 -. Decisions about editorial content catalog at the discretion of the Festival.
5.1.3 -. Representatives of the participating works authorize the use of one or more fragments of his film for broadcast as informative and promotional material in any media. Fragments of the films shall not exceed three minutes (for short length of the fragments may not exceed 10% of the final term).
5.1.4 -. If you have them, the Festival will require posters in digital version.
5.2 -. Dates projection The programming schedule with the dates and times of each film projection is exclusive decision of the Festival.
5.3 -. Stands exhibition The organization agreed with the participants support display that suits you. The Festival accepts films in the following media:
DCP
HDCAM
35mm (only movies in Spanish or with Spanish subtitles).
In special cases a copy on BluRay will be accepted.

6 -. PROJECTION ON COPIES
6.1 -. Languages and subtitles. Selected films will be screened in its original language. For films that are not spoken in Spanish, the Festival will favor screening copies with subtitles in Spanish. If there is no subtitled in Spanish, to prepare copy subtitling a list of dialogues in original language and English (with time codes) and a DVD or BluRay with English subtitles (unless the film is spoken in this language is required ).
These reference copies should include the final cut of the movie as it is projected.
6.2 -. Submitting copies
6.2.1 The costs of sending copies on DVD, BluRay or through a screener Link for shortlisting will be the responsibility of the representative of the work. Common use certified mail instead of courier is recommended. The Festival will not be responsible in any case, payment of customs duties on materials submitted in the event that these remain withheld. The Festival recommends mark packets marked "no commercial value. Cultural purposes only. "
6.2.2 -. Expenses importing copies of exhibition and return thereof shall be the responsibility of the Festival.
6.2.3 -. Details about shipping release prints will be indicated by the traffic department of the Festival once the film is confirmed.
6.2.4 -. Unless reach a different agreement with the organizers, the screening copy must be available throughout the Festival period and should reach Cuenca no later than November 4, 2014.
6.2.5 -. If the final destination of the copy display is another festival, the shipping costs are the responsibility of the same.
6.2.6 -. All materials must be submitted with the necessary measures to protect its contents.
6.2.7 -. Festival is not responsible for damage or loss occurred during the transfer of copies.
7 -. ABOUT THIS REGULATION
Participate with a play at the Festival implies acceptance of these rules. The organization reserves the right to take such decisions as it deems appropriate for those cases not covered by these rules.
