The FIFP is a moment and a unique experience where Pan African cinema and African culture, along with its diaspora throughout the world, are made available to everyone. It has an amazing energy. In order to describe the FIFP we will let those who have experienced the festival speak for themselves.

After 14 years of existence the Cannes Pan African Film Festival has linked its activities with a marketplace : The Pan African Exhibition or Marketplace.
A place where all parts of the cinema industry are available on show. Cinema benefits from being an art form which brings together all types of artistic activity. Cinema showcases : the performances of actors , music, photography, beauty , fashion, literature…

Our objective is to enhance the economy of Pan African cinema. Within a few years the market place for Pan African art will generate considerable wealth. We are already seeing a significant expansion in Pan Africain cinema, and the potential is tremendous.
This idea is an « active dream » which shows Africa and its diaspora as it is today. This was Mandela’s method, as it is that of Obama also and many others. Pan Africanism is a concentration of universality. It has preserved all that was left by the ancient Egyptians, and that which now influences the future. All in all, everlasting beauty.

«I created the FIFP or Pan African film festival, in order to show the unity and the universal sense of community present within diversity . In my opinion a lack of knowledge and awareness of others is the source of conflict and cinema is a great instrument for teaching about beauty and tolerance. My idea was to show, from something reserved initially for a specific community, that a whole world can be discovered»

A panel of judges working for the Dikalo Award
This award has given an added dynamic for Pan African work since its creation in 2006. DIKALO (which means message in the Douala language from Cameroon) is given by the jury to the best feature film and short film (fiction) the best documentary, best actor and actress. The public also choose who gets a DIKALO.
The quality of the films winning the Dikalos Award reflects the excellent work done by the different professionals who have made up the jury and has helped to make our festival a point of reference within its domain.
All the films which have gained awards at the festival have gone to have international recognition. An example of this is Rigoberto Lopez (winner of the Dikalo Award in 2006 ) the great Cuba director with « Roble de Olor – Perfumed Oak ».

Firstly I would like to thank FIFP for programming and allowing my documentary to premiere at your prestigious Pan African festival. It was a great experience, helpful networking, and meaningful conversation. Basile and his team are amazing, and answered any questions I had before the festival started. I would definitely. recommend this festival
